The drawing depicts a small coral [?] island covered with tropical growth. The drawing is done on specially prepared paper which is painted over with tempera. The drawing is done over the paint and in several areas the paint is scratched off to reveal the white of the paper. The painted area is oval. The inscription on the verso is probably by G.S. Hayward (artist) whose collection this drawing comes from. The artist's relation to Hayward is not certain., April 1975 - when accessioned the drawing was slightly soiled and surface worn, bearing several scratches and stains. There is a pinhole u.l., a tear u.r. and the edges are worn.
