The watercolour depicts two children (possibly the artist's) standing on a hillside. In the middle ground is a house partially hidden by large pine trees. This is probably the same house which appears in 'Cascades, Québec', dated 1905 (Acc. no. 1975-11-3) seen from the opposite direction. The arrangement of the trees seems to be the same, as does the slope of the hill on which the house is situated. Cascades is located in Wakefield Co. on the Gatineau River 17 miles from Ottawa and 3-4 miles south of Wakefield., Cascades appears to have been a summer residence for many people from Ottawa (including the artist, F.F. Dixon) in the late 19th and early 20th centuries., May 1975 - the work is buckled as a result of having been glued in a scrapbook. On the verso there are paper remnants held by glue and surface loss from the paper has occurred as a result of being torn from its mount., Dixon artist file, inventory number I-10
