Program host Mary Lou Finlay visits the Mackenzie Valley and talks to Nellie [Cournoyer], Secretary of the Committee for Original People's Entitlement (COPE). The daughter of a Norwegian trapper and Inuit mother, and raised in the Mackenzie Valley, Mrs. [Cournoyer] talks about her own background and her personal role as spokesman and activist for the Inuit Community. She describes the attitude of her people towards Southern lifestyles and values, and discusses the problems of town-life in Federally-subsidized Inuvik, and the environmental effects of the Pipeline on their traditional way of life. Noteworthy footage includes stills of Eskimo art and a "midnight sun" sequence of a boat-ride on the Mackenzie River. <60mn>Language:EnglishOriginal number:61-2-2133-6008-C ?~61-2-2133-6008Notes:Detailed holdings information: -
