Landscape view of a lake and mountains.
Work by artist George Vachell Boyd. Note from artist's file (705-921): Ensign of the 47th Regiment of Foot since April 13, 1858 - purchased comission; Lieut. since May 24, 1859 - purchased commission; Captain since July 16, 1873; Major and on half pay as of July 1, 1881; dies between 1886 and 1893. PAC has 1886 list, which mentions him, and 1893, which does not, but none in between. Boyd was active in Canada between 1861 and 1869 [Lieut.], in Montreal and then Nova Scotia.
This work is attributed to Boyd by Sotheby's.
