Inscribed., Inscription: in pen and black ink, recto u.c.: North-east angle of Central Prairie Country. -; l.c.: SALT SPRINGS AND BUFFALO PRAIRIE, SLAVE RIVER.; l.l.: "Three springs varying from four to twelve ft diameter / producing hillocks of salt from fourteen to thirty inches in / height. The streams were dry but the surface of the / clayey soil was covered to the extent of a few hundred; l.r.: yards towards the plain with a white crust of saline / particles.
