Early in 1905 architects the world over were asked to prepare competitive designs for the Peace Palace to be erected at The Hague by the Carnegie Foundation. mr. Chesterton entered the competition and his design was among the first 44 [20 according to his daughter Lillian Chesterton] finally considered by the jury. There were about 3,000 designs entered in the competition. [excerpt from The Ottawa Journal, Nov.16, 1931, pg.4]
