D.A. & J W - Chesterton/ rented a cottage belonging to Mr Biggs (?) - on the/ point of (?) an (?) island near Rat Portage. Mr. C. named/ the place "The Strait tip (?)" [this inscription is written over another pencil inscription; the bottom one is illegible]; b.: I leave this picture to/ Lil Chesterton/ Her father's work -- She is the child in white (?)
