Inscribed in brown letters on a tan background is "1885-1985/Mgr Noel Ritchot et Louis Riel". At the centre of the pin is a drawing of these two men.

Both of these men were influential in leading the Metis people during the Red River Rebellion in Manitoba.

General note:

Noel-Joseph Ritchot was a Roman Catholic priest and missionary. He was born December 25, 1825 in L'Assomption, Lower Canada, son of Joseph-Isaïe Ritchot, and Marie Riopelle. He arrived at the Red River colony (Man.) in early June 1862 and was sent to the predominantly Métis parish of St Norbert. Fr. Ritchot played a critical role during the Métis resistance to the proposed transfer of the northwest from the Hudson's Bay Company to Canada. He died March 16, 1905 in St Norbert, (Man.).
Louis Riel (1844-1885) was the Métis spokesman, founder of Manitoba, teacher, and leader of the North-West Resistance.
