Sitter facing right; this sitter was either Mary Boyles Powell (1791-1884), [daughter of William Dummer Powell], who married Samuel Peters Jarvis (1792-1857), mother of Samuel Peters Jarvis (accession no. 1991-78-2); or Mary Boyles Powell (ca. 1800 - ?), [granddaughter of William Dummer Powell], who married William Botsford Jarvis. It is possibly of the latter as a very young woman, given Bouker's active dates (1807-1814). Thus inscription is not totally accurate (see Jarvis portrait file).
