Uncultivated, forested landscape with a road running through it. Attributed to Lady Falkland, whose husband was governor of Nova Scotia from 1840-46. The farm must have been land owned by Lord Falkland, or associated with Government House, the seat of the Governor in Halifax., Susan is probably Susan Haliburton (m. J. W. Weldon), one of T. C. Haliburtons daughters. They are mentioned in several inscriptions. Susan was also an artist, several of her works being in the J. Ross Robertson Collection (#2185, 2189, 2194, 2202, and 2212-3) and in the Canadian Illustrated News (April 15, 1876)., The Haliburtons and Falklands are recorded travelling together around the province in the Novascotian (Sept. 1, 1845) and in the New York Albion (Sept. 14, 1844). Through his friendship with Lieut-Col. Fox, who was married to Lady Falkland's sister Mary, T. C. Haliburton gained entrance to the Falkland's social circle. This helped secure his appointment to the Supreme Court., The secondary support of this work is similar to 1990-207-73X, -81X, -90X, and -102X. All support Nova Scotian scenes attributed to Lady Falkland. Some have jagged left edges, suggesting that they were cut out of another album to be placed loose in this one.

Removed from: Album: Pencil sketch mounted with glue on secondary support, which had been cut out of another album to be placed loose in this one. Now removed.
