Laid down at corners. Stained. This item is part of a 4th edition of Sproule sketches to be marked series "C" (See memo in file 705-49). See Sproule Collection for 3 copies of same subject from the 5th edition of Sproule views, II-4d, Neg. No. C-001050. Spendlove states that this view from the 4th edition was redrawn by James Duncan (p. 64). [For an example of similar view from 2nd edition, see Sp, The artist's name is misspelled Robert Auchmaty Sproule in Harper's Early Painters and Engravers.... but more detailed research by Bruce Elliott of Carleton University notes it as Auchmuty.
