A bronze medal sculptured by Medallist Raymond Joly for the Paris Mint. It is dedicated to the memory of Sir Thomas More (1478-1535), humanist, writer, and English Saint. He is best known for writing his book "Utopia," as well as for being Lord Chancellor to Henry VIII, which would eventually lead to his shocking execution in 1535.

The obverse side of the medal displays a forward facing bust of Thomas More.

The reverse side of the medal displays an image of a serpent and a dove, likely in allusion to Christ's admonition that his followers should be "wise as serpents, and harmless as doves" (Matthew 10:16).
