Formerly described as silver (?). Medal FA cards state pewter., Awarded by Amherst to Mohickan Chief Tankalkel who assisted British forces against the French., Daniel Christian Fueter was a Swiss engraver who went to England and then fled for political reasons. He went to New York in 1754. He designed and cut the die for this medal, while working in New York City. He returned to his native Switzerland in 1769 (?)., The medal was photographed in 1971.
