A bronze medal commemorating the life of Louis I (or Louis the Pious), son of Charlemagne. Though he was King of the Franks (814-840) and King of Aquitaine (781-814), he is best remembered for his tenure as Holy Roman Emperor (813-840).

The obverse side of the medal displays a bust of Louis I by Armand Caqué.

The reverse side of the medal is engraved with a short history of Louis I.
