Image depicts a group of men carrying items from a boat through the ice. Water under ice appears to be knee deep. This is taking place during a snow storm and all the men are dressed in heavy clothing. A second group of men in the background are pulling [?] a boat onto the ice., Although a date is not given for this watercolour, it must have been executed after 1881, when the ill-fated voyage of the Jeanette came to a fatal end for De Long and his party on the shores of the Lena Delta.
