Image depicting a view of the shore of a river seen from the opposite shore. The view includes a very large church, surrounded by a few smaller architectures; below, a bustling port with large ships and a steam-powered paddle boat can be seen., The geographic location as well as the identity of the church depicted in this work still remain a mystery. Although the Winkworth-Sotheby's list uses the title "Ste.Anne de Beaupré seen from the opposite shore of the St.Lawrence", the image does not correlate with historical and topographical fact. More research is needed in this matter., There is slight soiling in the centre or the left side of the work. The matting is marked and stained by various materials.
