Portrait of a young Micmac girl of Nova Scotia seated on the ground. She wears a cross at her neck. McKie is the most accompished of the Nova Scotian amateur artists represented in the album. Her relationship with Lady Falkland is not known, although two other works of hers in the album bear the inscription "bought by Lady Falkland" (1990-207-31X and -33X)., McKie exhibited four works at the Halifax Mechanics Institute Exhibition of September, 1848., Micmac indians were popular subjects with Lady Falkland. She painted them herself, and collected examples by McKie and Nutting.
