Titled, dated "about 1883", and attributedto Edward F. Caddy, "youngest son of the late Captain Caddy", by a previous owner, Georgianna C. Caddy, from whom P.A.C. qcquired it in 1938. Edward F. Caddy, a civil engineer born in 1849, was shot by burglars in Winona in 1922 (Pendergast, p. 195 and Annual Report of the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors, No. 40, 1925, p. 113)., Similarity of style, identical dimensions and geographic proximity of the subjects in Cat. Nos. 41 and 42 would suggest a common authorship for both works.
