Amherst to Fauquier. Copy. Unsigned. Remarks on his letter 5 instant, regarding Act passed for keeping up the Virginian regiment. A sufficient force having been sent to Carolina, to punish the Cherokees, he anticipates, the three hundred men, intended to be stationed on the South-West frontiers, will be available for service with their corps. Tenders his thanks to the House of Burgesses, for what it has done at this instance in favour of Mr. Van Braam, who shall be notified thereof. His acknowledgements for the satisfaction expressed by the Assembly at his appointment to be governor of Virginia.
