1. Six nights a week, starting 1936, Al Vardy broadcast a 15-minute program of world news for St. John's radio station VONF. In 1939, he began using news supplied by American-based radio news service Trans-Radio Press.~2. Amidst charges of pro-Nazi, anti-British bias, the CBC Board of Governors suspended the Trans-Radio Press license in 1940.~3. Disc labelled "Fall of Madrid".
