Highlights of Bartlett's career are discussed, including his participation in the Vilhjalmur Stefansson expedition of 1913, sailing wooden ships through the ice, the use of dog team relays, the seal hunt, his commanding ships that brought Robert Peary to the north on his expeditions to the North Pole, and his travels to the north on other scientific expeditions.
