Documentary on the 2500 Canadian soldiers who, during the Cold War, were made sick by exposure to low level radiation, with reference to: the Nevada atomic bomb test, August 31, 1957; the May 23, 1958 Chalk River nuclear reactor accident; the health survey of Canadian atomic workers, including the stance of the Department of Veterans Affairs; the Canadian nuclear energy industry; and the sale and promotion of the CANDU nuclear reactor. Also, anti-nuclear songs are sung towards the end of this document. Other topics touched upon are: the Civil Defence Department school in Arnprior, Ontario; radiation injuries and crippling; genetic disorders; Atomic Engergy of Canada; cancer; radiation and Canadian government policy; the measurement of radiation; the physiological effects of radiation; radiation protection devices; and nuclear power plants. Interviews are held with: [Jack Wallace], Manager of the Civil Defence Department school in the 1950s; [Mrs. Ed. Kenyan], wife of a worker at the Civil Defence Department school; various Canadian military personnel present and active during the Nevada atomic bomb test and during the 1958 Chalk River nuclear reactor accident; Dr. Gordon Edwards, a Montreal physicist and national chairman for the Coalition For Nuclear Responsibility; Dr. [Eric Young], author of a British Columbia medical association study of the effects of radiation on uranium miners; [Howard Clark], Vice-chairman of the Canadian Pension Commission; Sister Rosalie Bertell, President of the International Institute of Concern for Public Health; an official with the Surgeon General's Office of the Department of National Defence; and Ray Skelley, British Columbia New Democratic Party MP.
