Documentary carrying the message of environmental activists in the Algoma Manitoulin region of Ontario to resist the installation of a Rio Algom uranium refinery in Blind River. Excerpts of speeches at a Algoma Manitoulin Nuclear Awareness rally by activists, including radiation scientist, Dr. Rosalie Bertell. Interviews with key individuals and experts include those with: trade-union spokesman, Homer Seguin of the USW, Elliot Lake, Ontario; Paul Carlos, Vice-President of Rio Algom; Mayor Gallagher of Blind River, Ontario. Topics discussed are: uranium mining, including allegations of poor health and safety practices; environmental pollution; radiation injuries and crippling, including cancer and genetic disorder; radiation risk assessment and monitoring, including references to the Atomic Energy Control Board; Ontario government pollution policy including discrimination practiced against Indians; northern Ontario job creation; and nuclear weapons.
