The last show of FOR THE PEOPLE. A look back as well as Updates on some of the issues dealt with in the past three years. Updates include the following stories. Pornography: where is Maude Barlow and what is she doing now? Demonstrations against Playboy TV and strip bars in Quebec are shown. Footage of Parliament Hill demonstration; the Barlow rally and subsequent interviews; strip bars and strippers; male strippers; and the end of Ladies Night at Minsky's. Terrorism. The Turkish diplomat Atilla Altikat's slaying is still unsolved. A $100,000 reward has been offered, but there are no leads. Overbrook Kids. A tough Kids program set up by Peter Schoniker is still thriving. Naomi Bronstein is still trying to bring Third World children to Ottawa Hospitals for surgery. She is now going to Korea to bring four children back. The Alfred Bog. Conservationists are still fighting to save the bog from agricultural zoning. Ernie Beauchesne of the Save the Bog Committee talks about the public support he has received. Parkway Art. Ray Stone of C.R.A.P. is still fighting. Many of the pieces put up three years ago have been removed.~Dan Turner explains the real reason he is leaving the show - he prefers to talk to kids. A few examples are shown: kids at St. Mary's Public School at Carleton Place showing Dan how to play alleys; kids at First Avenue Public School telling Dan what's in these days; Dan in a tiddly winks competition with kids and Nepean Mayor Ben Franklin at the Ottawa Boys and Girls Club; and kids interviewing Dan after the game. Dan gives further reasons for his leaving the show: the indignities heaped upon him and the various things he has had to do for the program such as: working as a garbage collector; playing a C.P.R. victim; donating blood; playing a patient on the operating table in a hospital skid; doing push-ups in the studio; being made-up as an old man; as a patient in a washroom; as a breath of life victim; and having to neigh like a horse.~Next, the show looks at how Ottawans are reacting to the end of an era. Mixed opinions from people at the Rideau Centre. Mixed reactions from Charles Gordon, Del MacKenzie, John Gray, Maureen McTeer, Jean-Robert Gauthier, Jane Dobell, and Ed Broadbent.~Finally Dan thanks the production and technical staff for putting up with him.
