Film clips are shown from THOSE OTHER DAYS, 1941, made by Associated Screen News for a National Film Board exhibit at the Canadian National Exhibition which never occurred. The film was never shown in theatres. It was directed by Gordon Sparling and narrated by Gerry Rowan, who plays an elderly soldier regaling a boy with wartime stories. Along with a number of musical selections, including Oh It's A Lovely War, footage shown includes: an army marching band; troops marching; battle scenes; military montage as well as a singalong in a pub. HEADLINE HUNTERS, 1945, produced by the National Film Board of the CANADA CARRIES ON series, is compiled from footage recorded by the Canadian Army Film Unit as a tribute to the war correspondents who risked their lives to bring news of the war to Canadians. Lorne Greene narrates the footage which includes: battle scenes; actual short broadcasts from overseas; mobile broadcast facilities; various headlines concerning the war; and shots of media correspondents including: Ross Munro; [Allan], from the Toronto Telegram; Ralph Allen from the Toronto Globe and Mail; Gregory Clark; Joe Clark P.F.C.; Colonel [William]; Colonel Dick Malone; Commander Frank Walker; and Commander Peter McRichard. The third film shown, OPERATION NIAGARA, is from a series of short films produced by the National Film Board in 1951. Narrated by Lorne Green, it shows the construction of the Niagara Falls Power Development. <30mn>
