Petition of Christian dissenters (Quakers) to the House of Assembly, 26 November 1836, regarding their right to make an affirmation in lieu of oaths; petition of James W. Sherrard, Home District, and Thomas Henery of Whitby, regarding their religious beliefs and the celebration of marriages and other legal acts. Originals, 9 pages.
These petitions regarding certain civil rights have been placed in RG 14, B 2, volume 1.

Custodial history:

Received in 1989 from the Archives of Ontario, these two petitions to the Parliament of Upper Canada were found astray with records inherited by the Government of Ontario.
