A musical salute to the Golden Jubilee of the forming of the Provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. The program opens with the Golden Jubilee song. Dan E. Cameron, CBC Program Director for the Prairie Region, introduces the program. Musical selections broadcast from various radio stations in Alberta and Saskatchewan. The Festival Overture by Brahms, performed by the CBC Prairie Orchestra, conducted by Geoffrey Waddington. Ring Out a Cheer, sung by the University of Alberta Mixed Chorus, conducted by Richard Eton. Preludium and Allegro by Kreisler, performed by Howard Layton Brown, Australian-born violinist, director of the Regina Conservatory of Music, with the CBC Prairie Orchestra, directed by Geoffrey Waddington. Medley of Canadian folk tunes, sung by tenor John Letourneau, accompanied by the CBC Edmonton Orchestra, conducted by Bob McMullin, Canadian composer. Excerpts of Rocky Mountain Sketches, by Bob McMullin, performed by the CBC Prairie Orchestra. All in the April Evening, sung by the Golden Jubilee Choir. Scherzo in E Minor, Opus 16, No. 2 by Mendelssohn, performed by Thelma Johannes of Saskatoon. Sing Joyously, sung by a Mennonite choir. Golden Jubilee and I Was Seeing Nellie Home, sung by Vic Siebert and His Sons of the Saddle and the Mellow Maids, country and western performers. Land of Heart's Desire, a Hebridean song, sung by Marilyn Duffus, contralto, from Moose Jaw, with the CBC Prairie Orchestra. Messages from Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent in English and French, Alberta Premier Ernest C. Manning who reads a message sent to the Queen and her reply, and Saskatchewan Premier T.C. Douglas who reads a message sent to the Queen and her reply. Singing of O Canada and God Save the Queen.
