Sous-fonds consists of records created and/or maintained by the Prices and Incomes Commission. The sous-fonds contains the commission's general working files, including the National Programme to fight inflation, price and income reviews, and research papers.

The film reels comprise television commercials prepared by the National Film Bureau for the Prices and Incomes Commission. See series entitled Television Commercials for further details.

Canada. Prices and Incomes Commission : The Prices and Incomes Commission was established by P.C. 1249 of 19 June 1969 in order "to inquire into and report upon the causes, processes and consequences of inflation and to inform those making current price and income decisions, the general public and the Government on how price stability may best be achieved". Dr. John H. Young was appointed chairman and the other commissioners were Paul Gérin-Lajoie, George E. Freeman and George V. Haythorne. The final report was submitted in August 1972. A special study group, created to retain the main policy files, continued the Commission's work within the former Consumer and Corporate Affairs Department (CCA). This was transitional in nature as CCA became part of Industry Canada in 1993.
