In his first introduction he acknowledges his debt to Dr. Marius Barbeau who " . . . has done more than any other man living to preserve and make known to the world . . . French Canadian folklore." First the quartet plays two sketches written in the late 1920s for a festival of French Canadian folk song and dance: Notre Seigneur en Pauvre and À Saumon l'eau Beau Port de Mer. Secondly, the quartet plays Six Bergerettes of Lower Canada. The Parlow String Quartet includes Kathleen Parlow on violin, Andrew Benac on violin, Stanley Solomon on viola and Isaac Mamott on cello. They are joined by Donna Hossack on harp and Perry Bauman on oboe. This recital follows Sir Ernest MacMillan's last broadcast as permanent conductor of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. <30mn>Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
