Louis St. Laurent, speaking from Quebec City, thanks the Canadian people for his first election as Prime Minister of Canada. He congratulates the Liberal members for their success in their individual ridings across Canada. He repeats his only election promise: to give the best service that he is capable of. He repeats his speech in French. On behalf of the Conservative Party George Drew, speaking from Ottawa, congratulates St. Laurent and the Liberal Party. He asks that the supporters of his party start immediately to build for the future in the best interests of Canada. From Biggar, Saskatchewan, M.J. Coldwell, CCF leader, comments on the federal eleiction results (a Liberal sweep). He says he is not discouraged and expresses confidence in his party. He forecasts that it will gain strength in the years to come and thanks all of those who supported his cause in this election. From Grande Prairie, Alberta, the Social Credit Leader, Solon Low, admits that the country has again been swept by the Liberal Party but he is critical of this government's methods of maintaining production and employment. He promises the co-operation of his Party to the new government but says that he will continue in his fight for sanity in our foreign policies and that the Canadian people should receive more justice and less law. <25mn>
