La série "Les Événements de 1837 et 1838" comprend plus de 4200 documents concernant les Rébellions de 1837-1838 et leurs suites, 1837-1849. While currently identified with records of the Ministry of Justice, this series appears to have had its origin with the office of the Governor and his Civil Secretary, to whom matters of justice were referred for a final decision where viceregal clemency might be exercised to mitigate punishments set by the courts, and in view of the many reports compiled by the Governor's staff on aspects of the Rebellions and the persons implicated in the various events. Textual records, microform: (Paper) Une description de la série de documents se trouvent dans un calendrier dans le Rapport des Archives de la province de Québec, 1925-1926 (pp. 145-329), avec un index. Une copie des extraits du calendrier, annotée, contenant le premier numéro d'image de chaque document se trouvent sur chaque bobine.

Custodial history:

Des bobines de microfilm classées M.165.1 à M.165.8 ont été reçues en 1987 lors d'un échange entre les Archives nationales du Québec et les Archives nationales du Canada. Auparavant, les documents furent classés QBC 25, volumes 8-47 (parmi les archives du Procureur général) mais se trouvent maintenant dans la série E 17, Ministre de la Justice.
