The First Newfoundland Regiment recently arrived in the United Kingdom. Shot of Lieutenant B. Butler commanding the signal section. Pan across signallers with lamps and flags in front of barracks spelling out the word "Newfoundland". Pan across men of the regiment in barracks yard at Ayr, Scotland and of seven sharpshooters lined up in front of the barracks. Shot of Captain G.T. Garty, commanding "A" Company. Pan across regiment as the men smartly present arms with bayonets fixed. Regimental charge towards camera. Men of the regiment receive Lee-Enfield rifles under the direction of Lieutenant M.F. Summers of Quartermasters Stores. Dept. Box is broken open and the rifles are issued to soldiers who shoulder them and march smartly off. Lieutenant A.W. Wakefield, Medical Officer for the regiment, inspects unit of shirtless soldiers. Men of the mess squad, under Sergeant J. Robertson, peel potatoes, greet members of a British family visiting the camp. Sergeant Green and men of his provost unit who make sure soldiers stay in line. Men hold out hand-cuffs for inspection before beginning rounds. <3mn>
