Cutting copy and matching sound track for part of episode five of the TENTH DECADE.~Lester B. Pearson talks about the Sixty Days of Decision. There is footage of an interview with Mr. Green about the 1963 federal election, CBC reporters discussing the election from "CBC election central", movie star Jayne Mansfield talking on the telephone, stating that Pearson is a very exciting man, Pearson at a conference table, Pearson and John F. Kennedy talking; Pearson talking about Kennedy, the Governor General meeting Pearson, recollections of Finance Minister Walter Gordon, about American investment and Canadian interests and newspaper headline "Canada First Budget Plans Alarm Kierans". There are interview clips of Kierans, Stanley Knowles, Peter C. Newman and Walter Gordon, who comment on political events of 1963, notably Pearson's budget. Other events discussed include the debate over nuclear warheads on Canadian soil and Kennedy's death. T.C. Douglas comments on the flag debate as do people on the street, Pearson and Newman. Included is footage of children's designs for the flag and an interview of a man about his flag design. There is footage of the raising of the new flag, Canadian scenes, the Beatles on stage, the 1964 Royal Visit to Quebec City, Jean Lesage (sync loss), Pearson talking about the Quebec Pension Plan, Judy LaMarsh on Quebec militancy, Pearson talking about Quebec and French-English relations, and John Diefenbaker talking about the refusal to set up a bilingualism commission.
