The second of four broadcasts by the CBC of the founding convention of the New Party (later renamed the New Democratic Party).~This program consists of the continuation of the debate on the draft party program and the name for the party.~Warner Troyer interview delegates on the convention floor, including H.W. Herridge.~The second half of this program begins with comments by Jean Gérin-Lajoie, cochair of the program committee and a representative of the United Steelworkers of America, about cooperative federalism and the cultural identity of Quebecers. Norman DePoe and Robert McKenzie discuss centralized politics.~Other aspects of this portion of the convention coverage include: amendments to the document on cooperative federalism; an interview with M.J. Coldwell about opinions expressed at the convention, the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation, the leadership of the new party, and Coldwell's support for Tommy Douglas; fiscal autonomy for Quebec; language problems; and communication between various levels of government.

1. Video copy of kinescopes from Box 21 of the CBOT film library.~2. Proceedings are mostly in English and the French segments are accompanied by simultaneous English translation.~3. The two kinescope positives are identical.~4. The CBC's next direct coverage of the convention was later that evening when the leadership candidates spoke.
