The first intertitle proclaims: "The greatest plowing match in Ontario's history was held near Stratford." This film records some of what took place at this event in 1930. The viewer is first introduced to some of the officers of the Ontario Plowmen's Association, and to Mr. Lockie Wilson, Secretary and Managing Director. There are shots of many cars approaching, and then a field with four horse teams ploughing. Of particular note is Wellington Johnson of the Muncey Indian Reserve and an exhibition team of Clydesdales owned by Norman McCully from Sunnyhill Stock Farm. The viewer is shown many shots of ploughing including a county competition, a boys competition, Austin Nairn of Fullerton with a team of Belgians, and tractors ploughing. An intertitle comments on the remarkable turnout of fine horses. Two Ministers of Agriculture, the Honourable R. Weir and the Honourable J.L. Kennedy are shown discussing the horses as a grand parade takes place. The Honourable J. D. Monteith chats with Mr. George Pepper before the judging takes place. Mayor C. E. Moore of Stratford talks with Alderman Frank Ingram as the shadows begin to fall and the film ends. <17mn 8s>
