Speeches are given by: Eric Regehr, peace activist with Project Ploughshares; Dr. Dered Paul, founding director of Science for Peace; Margaret Laurence, author and chancellor of Trent University; Dr. Herbert Scoville; Evgenie Goussarov, Second Secretary at the Soviet Embassy in Ottawa; a representative of the Canadian government; Lois Wilson, former moderator of the United Church of Canada; Dr. David Cortright, author; Executive director of S.A.N.E.; Lyle Kristiansen, New Democratic MP for Koutenay West; Herb Epp, Liberal Ontario MP; Jack Murta, Progressive Conservative MP; Art Eggeleton, Toronto Mayor; Grace Hartman, National President of the Canadian Union of Public Employees; Paul McCrae, Liberal MP; Linus Pauling, twice winner of the Nobel Prize; and lastly John J. Verigin Jr. of the Doukhobors, who presents money awards to Operation Dismantle. Topics covered are: peace negotiation, nuclear disarmament, nuclear weapons, misrepresentation of the Soviet Union, arms control, the moral and philosophical issues relating to the arms race, including a critique of recent American Presidents, peace activism in the United States, including the role of churches there, the Canadian municipal referenda on disarmament, and lastly media reporting on disarmament.
