The first pictures, made up from films taken by Canadian Army Film Unit cameramen at the front and flown across the Atlantic by bomber. Canadian 1st Division lands on Sicily soil July 10, 1943 under General A.G. McNaughton, they are attached to the US 8th Army. Excellent shots of the landing, which included a regiment from Quebec and from Ontario. Canadians training in England, parading, moving out and sailing on transports for Sicily under Major General Guy Simonds. Nurses board ship, troopship pulling out with cheering soldiers. Shots of soldiers passing time. Ship passes Gibralter, Cape Horn and finally Sicily is in sight. Americans prepare for Sicily invasion - more than 2000 ships form the vast armada that will invade the Sicilian coast. Entering Licita, advancing, Sicilian steets, armada under way. Briefings, shots of General Patton, Vice Admiral Hewitt, bombardment of Agira, tanks, bulldozers, and Patton wading ashore. Scenes of: destroyed Italian planes; tanks buildings; dead bodies along roadway; wrecked vehicles; rubble and desolation everywhere. Shots of: Italian POWs wading out to a ship which will take them to England; US Spitfires landing, gassing and taking off; US soldiers fraternize with Sicilians; Canadians being decorated by King George V and 1st Division (HC-1) boarding troopship in Halifax in December of 1939 on the way overseas.
