Swan got started in 1920 as ham radio operator. In 1927 he received a license for CKPR Toronto, then in 1930 he became chief engineer at CKCL (later CKEY) Toronto. Swan describes in detail the technical elements of early radio, such as shared frequencies, transmitters, creating recordings, microphones and transformers. A large part of the interview consist of the story of how he designed and erected a directional broadcast antenna system. He also tells a number of stories about working at CKCL (1930-44), in particular the difficulties he had working for Jack Kent Cooke once he acquired CKCL and it became CKEY. <1h 30mn>Language:EnglishNotes: -
