He has smoked his whole life. The camera follows him as he is diagnosed as having a malignant lung tumour, through to the operation which saves his life. His doctor, D.D. Monroe, shows Ayres his X-rays and explains his tumour. The next procedure involves inserting a tube down the throat with a small periscope-like device inside to examine the extent of the damaged lung. A group of specialists are gathered to discuss Ayres' case, the health hazards of smoking, and its relationship to heart disease, bronchitis and emphysema. The operation is shown in its entirety, with an examination of the cancerous lung once it has been removed.Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
