In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the confederation conference attended by the Fathers of Confederation, Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip visit Eastern Canada. This documentary is a compilation of excerpts from CBC coverage of the various events. The program includes coverage of: the Royal Couple's arrival by air at RCAF Station Summerside, Prince Edward Island; the dedication by Her Majesty of The Fathers of Confederation Memorial Building in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; the visit by the Queen and Prince Philip to Province House and the Confederation Chamber; a children's rally at the Charlottetown Exhibition Grounds; the arrival of the Royal Yacht Britannia at Quebec City; the Queen's bilingual address to the Quebec National Assembly; the dedication of the Memorial Hall, honouring the war dead of the Royal 22nd Regiment on the occasion of the regiment's 50th anniversary; the review of the troops of the Royal 22nd Regiment by the Queen; a march past by the regiment in her honour; a Thanksgiving Day wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial in Ottawa; and farewell ceremonies at RCAF Station Uplands, Ottawa. Among those shown are: Governor General Georges Vanier; Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson; Quebec Premier Jean Lesage; Paul Hellyer; Roger Tailler; Air Chief Marshal Mills; and Ottawa Mayor Charlotte Whitton.
