Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King speaks to the British press at a news conference held in England. The newsreel story begins with music, a shot of a coat of arms or flag, Mackenzie King getting out of a car and standing with a group of people, including Vincent Massey. Mackenzie King shown at table. Mackenzie King is then shown at the microphone. He begins by addressing Mr. Bracken and ladies and gentlemen of the press. His comments include the following: his purpose in coming is to emphasize the determination of Canada to help Britain in its struggle against Germany; he also wants to renew his friendship with Winston Churchill whom he met in 1907 and meet with his cabinet; his commitment to making Canada's war effort more effective and his desire to learn more about the British war effort. The British press is seen seated in the meeting hall. His comments are met with applause. <3mn 31s>
