The program features dramatizations of contemporary London Christmas scenes that depict a variety of people celebrating the holiday in individual ways. It attempts to portray the English as being cheerful and competent during troubled times.~Preceded by music and the chiming of bells, the announcer reads the names of the cast and sends greetings to listeners overseas.~With choral singing in the background, John Mills introduces the program and its object, to visit some English homes at Christmas-time and to meet the people. He introduces each of the following vignettes:~In a working-class Lambeth home, the traditions of a family's Christmas celebration are threatened by the daughter's wish to make an impression on an "aristocratic" young man whom she has invited to dinner.~In the second vignette, set in a modern flat in London's west end, a mother tells her child a bedtime story on Christmas eve.~The final scene takes place in a London club in Pall Mall where two men are spending a quiet Christmas day.
