From the banquet hall of the Royal York Hotel the guest speaker at the annual dinner of the Toronto Board of Trade, the Right Honourable Herbert Morrison, is introduced by J.S. [Duncan], past President of the Toronto Board of Trade.~Morrison, Leader of the British House of Commons, opens his talk by stating "We British see Canada as a vigorous nation with a great future..."~Mr. Morrison continues by making some observations with regard to economic and trade relations between Canada and the United Kingdom.~He makes some comments on the recent election of the Labour Party but at the same time, pays tribute to Winston Churchill and his contributions to the British people during the war years. He continues by explaining why the Labour Government is gradually nationalizing many industries in the United Kingdom as well as the Bank of England.~The Labour Government has plans for the nationalization of the coal and steel industry. He states, "during my visit to Canada. I can not forget the great affection expressed by your people during the Royal Tour of 1939". <60mn>
