Special documentary feature on eve of the liberation of Paris, using actuality recordings.~Mike Bryant tells of parachutists leaving for Normandy and jumping.~George Hicks, describes the naval bombardment of the Normandy coast from a ship with American and English battleships behind, landing craft carriers beside.~A correspondent describes a German airplane attack against Canadian warships. (the voice is sometimes inaudible because of the sound of ack-ack).~British Tommies singing "For Me and My Gal" as they shove off in invasion barge.~Matthew Halton describes Canadians hitting the beach and the French welcome of Canadian assault troops. The French are right on the beaches, with tears, roses, bottles of wine, eggs and strawberries, especially with tears.~Halton describes opening of the attack on Carpiquet, recorded at 5 a.m. on the spot.~Bill Herbert describes the arrival of R.A.F. bombers softening up Caen.~Matthew Halton describes the battle of Caen; the entry into Caen and raising of flag of France; the advance to Falaise by the First Canadian Army; and the American drive on Paris (with the disintegration of German troops, cursing Hitler).~Piper Bagpipe music closes the program. <30mn>
