Description:

First program in a three-year series of 12 documentaries on Canada's rivers and resources, leading up to Canada's Centennial Year. This documentary explores the Fraser River and studies the people who live along it and depend on it for their livelihood. The interviewees are: Mrs. Ines Houvinen, a fisherwoman; lineman Bobby Gibson; Andy McGuire, a 78-year-old prospector from Barkerville; Clarence and Mac Bryson of the Empire Valley Ranch; Danny Bob, an Indian section hand on the railroad; lumberman Norman Dillabrough of Shelly, British Columbia; and Ray Simla, an Indian cowhand.
