Description:

Audio recording of a television broadcast of the official opening of CBC television station CBXT five weeks after it first went on the air. It includes speeches by R.L. Dunsmore, Chairman of the CBC Board of Directors, and Alberta's Lieutenant Governor, J. Percy Page, who cuts a ribbon made of videotape to declare the station official open. Described are the new building and its operations. CBC President J. Alphone Ouimet, Alderman [Morris Winelaw] who represents the mayor of Edmonton, and CBC Prairie Regional Director J.R. Finlay also speak.

1. At the time of the opening, CBXT was the most powerful low-band television station in North America.~2. Followed by part of a television broadcast of a freetime political broadcast called ELECTION PREVIEW, consisting of a speech by a Mr. [Ledger] about Edmonton's debt.
