CBC television program featuring the following reports:~Ships of the United States Navy's Seventh Fleet patrol the Formosa Strait to act as a convoy for Nationalist China (Formosa) as Formosa tries to defend itself from attack from Communist China. There are visuals of jet aircraft, ships, an aircraft carrier, and an airplane taking off from the deck of a carrier.~Divers help to raise cars of a train which plunged in Newark Bay, killing 40 people. There is footage of a barge and the train being pulled out of the water by a floating crane.~An attempt is made on the life of Jacques Soustelle, France's Minister of Information. There are visuals of armed police officers patrolling the area where the Minister was attacked, bullet holes in the car door, and broken glass from the window scattered all over the car seats.~The segment entitled Tuna Tourney is about the International Tuna Tournament in Wedgeport, Nova Scotia. For the first time, the tournament fails to produce a fish. Only ten fish have been caught since 1955. Mr. Manson, the Minister of Trade and Industry, receives the trophy from its donor, Alton B. Sharp, to keep for another year. There are visuals of boats at the tournament, the Commonwealth team heading out to sea at dawn, anglers, and someone tossing fish into the water to lure tuna. A.C. De Villiers and his crew are disappointed that they only caught some mackerel. Kingsley Brown reports.~Report entitled Canada Goes to Frankfurt looks at the international fair for consumer goods in Frankfurt, Germany. This is the 21st year of the fair. There are visuals of the Canada Building, exhibits of equipment for summer and winter sports, clothes, Seagrams products, an outline of Canada's objectives at the fair given by the Canadian commerical councillor J.A. Stiles, a visit to the Czechoslovakia building with its display of ice skates and washing machines, displays of ceramics, pottery and a coffee machine from Eastern countries, and exhibits from Austria of clothing, including coats and swimsuits.~The final report is entitled Hong Kong Queen or Eastern Pawn. William Stevenson reports on overpopulation, poverty and hunger in Hong Kong. There are visuals of: the city of Hong Kong; busy streets; tourists; evidence of British influence such as double decker buses; refugees flocking from Communist China; refugees waiting at the border for their visas; people living on junks in the harbour; people living along the highways, under bridges, on rooftops and in other poor and unsanitary conditions; people scrounging for food; starving people; children sharing small portions of rice; people lining up for food at the Lutheran mission; and children drinking milk provided by the mission. There is also footage of constructing apartments to house squatters, concrete block buildings built by the government, vocational training programs, clinics, and schools. Stevenson visits missionaries on a nearby island and the refugee programs sponsored by them. There are visuals of water reservoirs, young crops, bamboo windbreaks, and settlers working the land.
