A young woman and an older man on their way to be married ride in the back of an automobile driven by a chauffeur who looks a bit like Ben Turpin. First title reads roughly, "Story of a man marrying a beautiful girl for $1,000,000 and a chauffeur who would marry Old Mother Hubbard for $1.50". One of the chauffeur's gags is to hold a life size picture of himself outside the car to say thank you or to thumb his nose ... he has a selection of these props. Now it is dark and stormy. They stop at a large mansion. Titles state, "Strange tales were told about the House of Mystery", "Prof. Satana master of life's secrets and the Great Beyond" and "Kajanka is loose".~Kajanka is a man in a chimpanzee suit. The chauffeur and the professor's female assistant alternately mistake each other for the chimp. The groom proves to be a coward and locks the girl out of the bedroom. There is a remarkable deep focus shot looking over the shoulder of the chimp at the girl cowering at the other end of the bedroom. The chauffeur pokes two holes in the bedroom door with a rifle and inserts it in the top hole; the barrel curves and comes out through the lower hole between his legs. When it fires he is blown back by the recoil in slow motion. The chimp is directed back into his cage by the professor's assistant who is standing behind the chauffeur; he believes he is doing the directing and follows the chimp into the cage, is locked in briefly, and emerges with his clothes in tatters. A shot of the chimp in bed, wearing a night cap, blowing out a candle, follows. The trio leaves but the girl now sits in front with the chauffeur. He uses one of his signs to thumb his nose at the groom in the back who pulls down the blind. The girl repulses the chauffeur's advances with a hammer blow on the head and takes the wheel.
