Newsreel story of a visit to Toronto, Ontario, by the Earl of Athlone, Governor General of Canada, and his wife, Princess Alice. This is their farewell as they will be leaving Canada in March. At the Toronto Training and Re-establishment Institute, for returned veterans, the Vice-Regal party sees rehabilitation training. Being especially interested in Chinese art, they visit the Royal Ontario Museum's collection. Footage shows: car arriving at the Royal Ontario Museum and the party getting out; rear shot as party enters museum; long shot as party walks through one of the rooms; entering the Chinese Room; variuos shots as Bishop W.C. White, Curator of the East Asiatic collection shows them throught the Chinese galleries; close-up of Prince Alice and Captain the Viscount Lascelles, nephew of King George VI, the Governor General's aide; car arriving at the Toronto Training Institute; the Governor General watching war veterans learn building trades; the Governor General and Princess Alice watch brick layers at work; machinists in training in the machine shop; various shots of discharged veterans learning to be machinists as part of Canada's rehabilitation program; and close-up shots of mechanics working on an automobile engine.
