The program focuses on three aspects of Canadian Red Cross service in the war. Matthew Halton reports on the Red Cross as it supplies blood plasma and medical aid on the Italian Front. Frederick Griffin describes the Red Cross's work of sending parcels to European prisoner-of-war camps. American reporter Quentin Reynolds relates his observations of the organization at work in all theatres of the war.~Dramatization of war-time incidents in which Red Cross performs invaluable services.~Announcer introduces program and reporters.~Matthew Halton talks about the devotion of the Red Cross workers, particularly as he observed them in San Leonardo, Italy. A dramatization follows, focussing on the importance of early blood transfusions. Halton claims a reduction of deaths in WWII as compared to WWI, attributing this to Red Cross action.~Frederick Griffin of the Toronto Star talks about the value of parcels sent to prisoner-of-war camps, and how they help to maintain prisoners' morale and health. Following is a dramatization of an incident in which a Royal Canadian Air Force flyer attributes his survival to Red Cross food parcels.~Griffin closes, explaining how the Red Cross determines the contents and distribution of the parcels.~Quentin Reynolds, American war correspondent and author, reflects on his own experience of the Red Cross, especially in the Middle East. He focuses on the organization's willingness to extend sympathy and help of all kinds.~Announcer explains how the public may contribute to the Red Cross, and closes the program.
